Parts WashingTraditional parts cleaning technologies utilize either caustics, natural solvents or petroleum-based solvents. Cleaning parts with caustics solvents typically requires hours of soaking. Cleaning parts with solvents requires brushing and scrubbing; for large parts hours, even days, of brushing and scrubbing. All are typically considered hazardous wastes when spent and are required
to be disposed according to strict guidelines. For many shops, the paperwork,
management requirements, and training imposed because of the use of large
quantities of hazardous substances and generation of large quantities
of hazardous waste has become quite burdensome and time consuming. For more information, visit EPA's Parts
Washing Web site. | |||||||||||||
